Shuttle Atlantis

Space shuttle Atlantis launched again today. Jonathan and Matthew drove up to Titusville again for the event. Fortunately, a friend of Jonathan's has an apartment with a clear view of the launch site, so the guys were able to see (and feel!) it well.

I went outside and watched the launch with the Shavers in their yard. I could see it really well, although I could only make out the exhaust and the flames-- it was hard to see the shuttle itself. But still, an extraordinary event that we don't take for granted. It's so amazing that we're living in this area and get to witness this!

This photo of the launch was taken by Matthew! Jonathan had the video camera, so Matthew took care of the still shots. Good job, buddy!

This is one of many photos that Jonathan took of the sky as it began to clear after the launch. The vapor trails left by the shuttle made beautiful and interesting patterns!
