We all got up early for church. Our congregation has changed their format to include an 8:30am service, with no childcare for children 5 and up during that period. Matthew did pretty well in the service, but got a little wiggly in the end. However during the sermon he had an interesting moment. Our pastor Hunter Dockery said, "I'm going to tell you a scary story," and when he heard this, Matthew let out an unintentional loud gasp which was heard by the whole crowd. The room rippled with laughter!
Jonathan had to stay at home during the service. When we went downstairs to load up in our cars, there was a huge swath of water sitting in the garage. It took a minute for us to realize it was coming from a drainage pipe near the laundry. Fortunately it was contained to that area and didn't get into the carpeted areas of the house. We determined that the water had stopped flowing out of the drain pipe, so Jonathan stayed to plunge the water and "babysit" the problem. It was momentarily horrifying-- we have this house for sale, and the last thing we need is a disaster on our hands. We had to deal with little to no water usage for a little while, but the problem was easily fixed a few days later.
After church we went home to help our guests pack up, and then we headed out to my grandmother's for her birthday lunch. We had a lovely meal with the family, and around 1pm we made our exit with the nap-needy children. We said goodbye to Donovan, Jennifer and my aunt Ellen, who would be returning to their respective homes soon.
Other than a very challenging afternoon and evening with Matthew, we had a restful day and later JH and I had a low-key night.
