After breakfast and for the rest of the day, we got things done for Florida. I started sorting and packing things in the guest room closet. It's always interesting what you find when you start doing that!
Jonathan did more work in looking for a place for us to live. He dug up materials he'd gathered on his March trip to Florida, and made and returned phone calls to people. I think we have a good shot of finding a good spot, it's just a matter of doing the leg work. The boys had a hard time understanding why Daddy was home but couldn't play. He took a break at lunch and played a game of checkers with Matthew (MH won), but it was a challenge to keep everyone happy. At one point I took Colson out with me to the library to return some videos, just to get out.
In the afternoon Jonathan took a break from his home-hunting. Our mailbox, which has probably been in place in the front yard for at least 15 yeras, has suddenly decided to fall off its metal post. I've been taking the detached metal box down to the street for a few days, lashing it to a milk crate and card table. It's been quite a scene. Jonathan and Matthew dug a new hole and installed a new box and post, and now we're not the freaks of the neighborhood anymore. It's funny how weird repairs like this always crop up right before you move!
After all his work, Jonathan took Matthew to Groves Stadium for the annual Fan Fest celebration for Wake Forest football. They had a ball, running into the Pinyans, playing on the field, and getting on the stadium internet camera. They called me and Jonathan's brother Chris and waved to us on the internet. Here's a photo-- click on the picture to see a larger image-- they're standing near the "F" with their arms in the air:

What a good day-- a bit of work, a bit of play!
