The Plan

Jonathan and I spent alot of time this morning on the housing issue, as well as figuring out our moving date and logistics of certain furniture items. To keep Matthew at bay, we gave him a rare treat of watching an entire DVD movie ("A Bug's Life") so that we could have a converstaion without being interrupted. Wag your finger at me, I dare ya!

My parents graciously offered us 2 frequent flier tickets, so we're going to be able to go down to Vero Beach at the end of the month and scope out some of these rental properties we've been investigating. I'm so glad I'll be able to go down there and get some things in order before we leave. It'll make things so much easier, and I'm looking forward to the time away with Jonathan, too. His mom is going to come and take care of the kids while we're gone.

At mid-day I ran errands, changing our cell phone plan to a national one, grocery shopping, etc. Poor Colson fell asleep in the car just before we got home. I let him sleep in there for a while, then transferred him up to his room. He still slept for a while after that! Maybe it'll help his ears get better.

Then Jonathan took a turn and ran errands with Matthew. Paid bills online at the WFU library, did a test drive on a minivan (just to get $50, not seriously looking at a car!), bought pool chemicals at Lowe's. I'd tried to get chemicals at Wal-Mart, but they've cleared them out to make room for the Halloween stuff! Amazing!

So for those of you who are wondering what our plans are, our itinerary is:

August 25: Matthew's first of just a few days of school at Jefferson Elem. in Winston-Salem.

August 28: Jonathan's mom arrives in the evening to be here for our trip tomorrow.

August 29-31: Jonathan and I fly to Vero Beach (thanks Mom and Dad!) to look at properties to rent. We also go by the school board to get Matthew set for school.

September 6: Pack up moving van in NC, LH and JH drive down to Matthews, NC to drop off our piano and pick up a student desk for Jonathan at my parents' house. Spend night. The boys stay with Jonathan's mom in Winston.

September 7: Jonathan, myself, Matthew, Colson, Al Hartness, Shirley Hartness and Clark Pinyan (and whoever else wants to join in! HAH!) all meet up in Matthews, NC . We head out from there, aiming to make it to at least Savannah, GA, the halfway point.

September 8: Drive the rest of the way to Vero Beach, FL. Move in as much as possible in PM.
September 9: Finish moving in, return rental truck. Our helpers return home to NC whenever they want.

September 11: Hopefully Matthew starts school, at which school we don't know...

September 15: Laura and Colson start attending Community Bible Study in Vero Beach

September 18: Jonathan starts classes at Flight Safety Academy!!

Having said all that, please keep us in your prayers as we proceed with this plan. There's alot of stuff that's got to fall into place before we can do all these things. We have repairs that need to be done (post-house inspection), a new lock has to be put in the pool room, we have to find someone to take care of the pool for a couple of weeks after we leave (closing date is 9/27), packing's got to be done, yada yada yada... tons to do. Please pray that we will keep our wits about us and make good choices.

Thanks for all your prayers and help!
