Another morning of hitting the ground, running. Took Matthew to school and spent the morning cleaning house and packing up for the "Brinson Beach Blast", or BBB. It's a 30+ year tradition in my mother-in-law's family to get together at the beach once a year. Jonathan came home from work at 11am, we picked Matthew up at 12:30 and were on the road, hoping the 4pm house showing would go well. We let Matthew watch the movies Chicken Little and Lord of the Beans on the way there, which made everyone happy. Thank goodness for portable DVDs-- Matthew doesn't know how good he's got it!
We had to stop once for a potty break and once for gas, but we made it there in less than 5 hours, which amazed me. Colson especially did really well, considering he didn't nap much and didn't understand why we were in the car so long.
After we got settled I ran back out to the store to buy some healthy food for myself, as most of what's available here at the BBB is high in everything unhealthy. I also picked up some workout DVDs from McDonald's with a salad. The manager was gracious enough to let me have all of the 3 copies I wanted, not just one! Whoo-hoo!
After dinner and getting the boys down to bed, we stayed up talking and hanging out with the cousins. People were ingesting some very interesting beverages, so the conversation was odd and comical. Eventually it was just Jonathan and me hanging out watching the big flat-screen TV in the main den. Just sitting there-- it was so nice to relax, not worry about the house and just be together. It should be a nice weekend with family.
